Nashik: Farmers in several districts have begun sowing wheat and gram about two weeks earlier than last year, helped by late monsoon rain that left soil moisture above normal.
Agriculture officials said seed and fertiliser stocks are adequate, and extra supply points have been set up in blocks where demand is rising fastest.
Farmers have been asked to register for crop insurance before the deadline at the end of next month.
